Vitamin B12 and Bodybuilding

Many people with low iron in the blood, it is essential to take the B12 vitamin. Bodybuilding also uses this vitamin because it does contain many separate anabolic properties. A B-complex vitamin supplement will harness all the benefits of the anabolics and vitamins in one tablet.

The main reason bodybuilders like to make sure they are getting enough B12 is that it aids in digestion and absorption of the proteins and carbs they ingest in the food. B12 is also a vitamin that plays a role as an enzyme in many bodily functions.
No one can deny the value of making sure your body gets the vitamins it needs, whether you engage in bodybuilding or not. When you take a Vitamin B supplement, you do get the B12 you need for iron as well as the other properties that will help you tone your muscles naturally as an enzyme in many bodily functions. In the stomach the B vitamins help release more of the gastric juices, which enable the body to gain more from the food than it normally would.

No one can deny the value of making sure your body gets the vitamins it needs, whether you engage in bodybuilding or not. When you take a Vitamin B supplement, you do get the B12 you need for energy as well as the other properties that will help you tone your muscles naturally with exercise.

Energy is something that bodybuilders need in order to keep up a rigid training routine. The muscles also need this energy to recuperate after an exercise routine.

Meeting and Dating A True Bodybuilder

You don't need to be muscle-bound to get along with a bodybuilder; you just need to learn what their life is all about. Male and female bodybuilders are watching for people who look like they take care of themselves. Fitness is first priority in a bodybuilder's life, so it's important to have family, friends and partners who understand and support their goals and activities.

One example of this is NGA & IFPA natural pro bodybuilder Layne Norton's fiancé. She goes to all his contests and wears a tee shirt emblazoned "Layne's #1 Fan." Another good example is the wife of Mr. Olympia, top IFBB pro, Jay Cutler. He has publicly acknowledged how he appreciates her support.

She works out with him, cooks for him, runs his business, and travels around the world with him. Neither women are bodybuilders but they appreciate and endorse the lifestyle.

Then there is Monica Brant, considered one of the most important figures in the women's fitness movement. Her husband looks after her, making sure she gets proper rest and nutrition before competition, traveling with her and helping coordinate her schedule.

He is not actively competing but certainly shares her lifestyle.
Some women are intimidated by the idea of dating a bodybuilder and think they will be "judged" on what they eat and drink when he's around. (Not a good way to start a relationship!)
Or they see a handsome, muscular guy approaching, and think to themselves, "Gee - I hope he's not DUMB!" Let go of that stereotype: Layne is finishing his Doctoral thesis!

If you think that muscular guy across the room walks with a certain kind of strut, it's because he has worked hard to look the way he does and he is proud of his body. He'll be attracted to you if your posture is good, your skin is clear, and you look like the healthy girl-next-door. What do you say if he stops to talk to you? You might ask him questions about what got him started on a quest to conquer body fat and build muscle.

There is nothing more engaging to a true bodybuilder than to talk about fitness and nutrition; you'll see a spark in his eyes and passion in his voice, as he shares what he knows and practices every day.

A female who competes in figure or fitness competition has an even tougher time finding someone to date, because the average guy doesn't understand her need to become lean and sculpted, and most men won't want to keep up with her rigorous diet and training.

If you're interested in a woman who is especially fit and you're not, what better way to open a conversation than asking for advice or suggestions? Anyone who is going to be a part of a bodybuilder's life needs to share at least a few of their interests.

In this lifestyle, it's not about "opposites attract." You may bike, jog, dance, or just walk your dog, but - male or female - you certainly don't sit and watch TV all night, eating a bag of chips. You must have some sense of a healthy lifestyle if you hope to get past the first date.

Bodybuilders don't want to apologize for their dedication to nutrition or make excuses for missing social events because they are working out. It's no different than if they held a very demanding job that deprived them of the company of family or friends. Men and women who diet and train strenuously every week are "self-contained" packages - not part of a team, not a player who gets "up to bat" once in a while, but a solitary athlete, secure enough in themselves to be determined and disciplined to follow their personal goals.
You can't eat for them or train for them but you might go to the gym together and enjoy tanning, or a sauna or swim together. It comes down to priorities; find something that will make both of you happy. Be secure in yourself and have your own interests as well, and don't be clingy or jealous of the time they spend away from you training.

Most bodybuilders will be upfront about their priorities if it looks like the relationship is warming up. They have a lot to explain; about their need for special foods, about the water bottle they carry constantly, about the importance of daily workouts, and other idiosyncrasies.
Just realize this is not a fad, so don't think they will change later. If you care - you'll understand and support him or her.

What's most important in the life of a bodybuilder? Having familiar food available at all times, getting a good night's sleep and maintaining a regular schedule every day are critical. It is vital for them to schedule workout sessions, and incorporate their meals around their work or school schedules.

Most bodybuilders won't want to start a long-term relationship if it poses a risk to their regular routine. To him or her, it's just not worth taking a chance of scuttling the progress they've made - as much as they would like to add someone special to their life.

If you're not bothered by a pile of sweaty gym clothes and the constant smell of broccoli in the kitchen, then you might be ready to date a bodybuilder. Just make room in the fridge for five dozen eggs, and a five pound bag of chicken breasts. Hide the cookies and ice cream.

Like taking turns using a piece of equipment at the gym, if they can "work in with you" and still keep the commitment they made to themselves, it will work out fine.

Should You Invest in Pre-Workout Supplements?

Those into body building and weight lifting are most definitely aware of the presence of different workout supplements in the market. From pre-workout supplements like Cellucor C4 Extreme to post-workout products like protein shakes and drinks, you surely won't run out of options when it comes to using supplements to make the most of your training.

With the high prevalence of such supplements in the market, you can't blame a lot of people who easily fall for the advertised claims and benefits of different products. But are these products safe to use? Do the benefits outweigh the cons?

Pre workout supplements are generally manufactured with different muscle-building and energy-enhancing nutrients, such as creatine, nitric oxide, as well as caffeine. Here are some of the benefits known to be provided by different bodybuilding supplements:

  • Boosts power, concentration, and endurance. Pre-workout supplements have energy-boosting ingredients that help body builders concentrate and keep going on their training. Of course, with increased power, this also results to a better workout performance since you can push yourself harder to train more.

  • Fast recovery. Studies also show that protein supplements taken before a physically strenuous activity helps minimize the tendency of muscle injury during training. Protein is also known to be helpful in muscle building, tissue repair, as well as faster body recovery.

  • Improved metabolism. Some supplements also consist of thermogenic ingredients that are effective fat-burners. These fat-burners can highly improve calorie burn, fat loss, and overall metabolism. Apart from helping build fat-free muscles, such supplements are also proven to be helpful in weight loss.

As for the disadvantages, here are some of the well-known cons of using pre-workout supplements:
  • Since many of the supplements available contain caffeine and other stimulants, excessive intake can lead to irritability, sleeplessness, as well as dependency. Heart palpitations, increased blood pressure, and mild hypertension are also known side effects. As you may notice, these disadvantages are also common side effects of taking coffee or any caffeinated products.

  • Some of the body building supplements containing creatine are said to cause dehydration, muscle and stomach cramps, nausea, and diarrhea. These side effects, however, are reported to be experienced by those who overuse the supplement without being properly dehydrated.
Despite the many benefits of various bodybuilding supplements, everyone must be cautious when buying any type of health product. Every product that is effective is known to carry its own share of side effects. The level of danger involved in those side effects, however, vary from one person to another.

You may have an existing medical condition that prohibits you to take a particular supplement, or the product's ingredients may react negatively with your current medications or lifestyle. All in all, investing in workout supplements is ideal but must be taken carefully and in moderation.

Overdosing and continued usage for a long period can cause different side effects, so make sure to follow recommended usage and professional advice.

Going into body building requires regular training and healthy lifestyle and diet complemented with different workout supplements like cellucor C4 Extreme. Invest only in genuine and high-quality health supplements like the ones offered at Nutrition Warehouse store online.

Bodybuilding Injury Prevention - Read This Before You Begin Lifting Weights

Preventing Injuries

An injury will slow down your results dramatically. Weight lifting and bodybuilding require strength AND flexibility.

Many people leave the flexibility out of the equation when working out. One of the most common causes of training injuries is lack of a proper warm up procedure. Stretching, light aerobics and doing high rep sets with light weight can seriously reduce the chance of injuring yourself. You should seriously make injury prevention one of your primary concerns.

If you train in a way that will get you injured, remember that you probably will NOT be able to train properly, or at all, when you are injured. Lost training time means you will get results slower and maybe not at all if the injury is permanent or severe. Train safely and correctly at all times.

Patience is the key to have an amazing body. Stay disciplined so that you reach your goals with ease. Always pay attention to your body. If you're feeling weak, tired or nauseous, skip your workout that day and come back to it when you feel ready.

But make sure you only skip your workouts if you're feeling sick or your body isn't strong enough to take on the poundage. A little soreness or fatigue can be expected and is normal.
Your diet also affects your body's ability to repair and renew itself properly. Proper rest and food choices give you the best foundation for a safe workout. Check out this site to get more tips on nutrition and healthy eating so you can be sure to stay safe, strong, and healthy.

What Causes Bodybuilding Injuries?

Many lifting injuries occur over a long period of time as problems build up over months or even possibly years. By not allowing a joint to rest, pushing it constantly over months, will make injury all the more likely.

By listening to your body and giving it time to rest and recover after a long period of intense workouts, you're doing yourself a favor. For long term success, you have to realize that you are a human being and you need to take a break and rest properly.

So if you're elbows are aching, or knees feel funny, take a week off - an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Don't listen to your friends or others who might downgrade or shrug off your concerns as being part of the territory. Pain is counter-productive in weight training. Get to know your body.

As you loosen up your muscles by stretching and even lubricate your joints by warming up, the chance of injury or long-term harm is greatly reduced.

In addition, stretching between sets flushes out lactic acid and byproducts while bringing in fresh nutrients, giving you more strength for your next set. Stretching improves joint range of motion, improves the function of your muscles and improves neuro-muscular control or efficiency. Finally, even the post-stretching warm down helps you recover faster between workouts. Stretched muscles
It is very important that your muscles and joints are flexible. Increased flexibility means increased muscle mass and less injury. Flexibility is the range of motion around a specific joint or a set of joints.

Every movement you make from daily activities, exercise and sports require your joints to move through a full range of motion. Therefore a lack of flexibility will lead to muscular imbalances and eventually injury.

How You Can Keep Your Muscle Mass During Ramadan Period

For bodybuilders who are moslems, it is compulsory to fast or abstain from all food and drink during Ramadan period. For entirely a month, moslem followers are required to refrain from eating, drinking, and sexual contact from dawn until sunset. The goal of fasting is to achieve more patience, spirituality, and humility.

During fasting period, the moslems are not eating nor drinking for an entire day, from sunrise to sunset. It can be a few hours to more than 12 hours in some parts of the world. Due to the fact, fitness maniacs tend to skip gym activities and take a break from their diets.

They worry that they will not have enough energy to work out. During this period, they are very likely to experience lack of energy due to the reduced calorie intake.
So what should you do with your fitness program if you cannot eat 5-6 times a day?
Fasting is a good way to burn more calories since you are eating zero calorie during the day. To keep your muscle mass, simply eat more fibers and protein during the night. Before sunrise, eat more fibers and low GI foods in addition to protein so that you are not deprived of energy during the day.

Since low GI foods are digested slowly, your body will absorb the nutrients and energy gradually during the day to prevent sudden drop of insulin levels. If your stomach is empty for a long time, your body will burn protein and fat to keep functioning properly. When your body is deprived of protein, the body will take more protein from your muscle (catabolism).

You can burn more fat when you train before breaking the fast. Exercising with an empty stomach is certainly a fat burning process. Reward yourself with gallons of water after sunset to rehydrate yourself. You can keep working out at night but you may need more rest time between sets or even between days or just work out as usual if you still have plenty of energy.
Training as a bodybuilder during the holy month of fasting is definitely possible. Your body will be depleted of glycogen during the day, but you can eat plenty of low GI foods for iftar or sahur to prevent it. Eventually a tiny drop of water will be so precious by the time you break the fast. Since you have to take plenty of water to keep you hydrated, you can take Gatorade or other non-carbonated ion supply beverages to prevent you from bloating.

The process of building muscle is a long process of trial and error. Bodybuilding guide  contains all the information you need about bodybuilding supplements: the benefits and side effects of glutamine , creatine monohydrate, protein powder, etc.

Ectomorph Diet Plan - Effective Post Workout Diet For Rapid Weight Gain

The success of every bodybuilding program depends on understanding nutrition and diet. And for ectomorph bodybuilders, this is true even more. No doubt, your ectomorph workout is the key, but your ectomorph diet plan is the door behind which lies the strong, muscular body you dream of.

Although for serious ectomorph bodybuilder the diet is important at any time and day, it is the pre-workout and post workout diet plan that has the most immediate impact on your muscles. The nutrients right after your workout will give you a muscle building edge you need in order to progress, while the nutrients you give your body before the workout will have instant effect on the quality and effectiveness of your training.

You absolutely need to pay a lot of attention to food and supplements you take 90 minutes before and 90 minutes after workout.

Lifting weights not only tires your muscles (and often your mind too), but actually creates a microscopic tears inside your muscles. It is while resting after your training, and especially while sleeping, when your body starts repairing those tears, using the nutrients you provided. Think of the food as the cement that is used to build your muscles.
After workout, your muscles are "hungry", and to feed them quickly and effectively, you should give them fast absorbing carbohydrates, best in the form of glycogen. Without glycogen, your muscles may not be able to start up the recovery process as efficiently as they could with the glycogen.
The best source of glycogen can be found in fruits.

I especially like to eat bananas after my workouts, because they are also a great source of potassium.
If you can, instead of eating solid food, consider drinking a post workout supplement.

It does not have to be a commercial product, it can be a drink you make yourself, such as fruit juice consisting of various fruits. However, commercial supplement usually has a higher concentration and is more balanced. It may, if considering the actual concentration and ease of preparation be a cheaper option than home made drink.

Either way, it is vitally important you give your body glycogen, no matter how you decide to do it.The second essential nutrient in your post workout diet is, of course, protein. It is protein that is the main building block for your muscles.

You already probably know that the best source of protein is eggs, lean meat or fish, however, these foods take time to be processed and absorbed into your blood stream. Therefore, it is better to actually drink a protein drink after workout. It absorbs quickly and does not overload your digestive system.

When it comes to post-workout protein, there is no special ectomorph supplement, so the criteria for buying a protein supplement is simply the amount of protein in a serving, and taste and flavor you prefer.

Again, you can mix your own drink, but trust me, the commercial protein drinks are typically actually cheaper when you consider the amount and quality of protein they supply in one serving. Plus, they just taste much better than drinking some milk shake with raw egg whites. Then again, Rocky drank that and it certainly worked for him...
You should take both carbohydrate drink, and protein drink within 30 minutes after workout. Then, 60-90 minutes after workout you should have a regular, quality meal. The meal should be well balanced carbs and protein meal, such as lean beef or chicken with rice or potatoes.

If you workout at the evening, make sure the meal is not too big. Overeating before going to sleep makes your sleep shallow, and deep sleep is vital for releasing growth hormone and relaxing and building your muscles (remember the little tears in your muscles after the workout that need to be repaired!).

This simple and fairly inexpensive ectomorph diet plan will ensure you give your muscles what they need to grow and get stronger, and you will start seeing dramatic results very soon, even if you are an ectomorph bodybuilder.

If you are one of the thousands of frustrated ectomorph bodybuilders struggling with the same lousy weights day after day, and even lousier results, there is a hope for you!

The good news is, that even you can become muscular and strong. The bad news is, it will be hard and long journey. But if you are ready to put your ectomorph diet plan and workout into higher gear, go to my ectomorph bodybuilder blog where I share tons of great tips specific to ectomorph bodybuilders.

Plus, I have some cool free gifts too. Do yourself a favor, and check it out now!
